What is a gong bath?

A gong bath is a deeply relaxing sound therapy experience where you lie or sit comfortably and allow the resonance and vibration of gongs, singing bowls, and chimes to wash over you. There is nothing to do and no experience needed. Simply listen, rest, and receive.

Question 2

Do I need any experience?

Accepted Answer

No. Gong baths are open to everyone, and no previous experience of meditation, sound therapy, or gong meditation is needed. Simply bring yourself, get comfortable, and allow the sound to guide you into rest.

What about sensory needs?

Accepted Answer

Everyone experiences sound differently. I can adapt the sound, volume, and instruments to suit individual sensory needs. If you have particular sensitivities or preferences, please contact me before booking.

What should I bring and wear?

Accepted Answer

Wear comfortable clothing and bring anything that helps you settle – such as a mat, blanket, cushion, eye mask, and water bottle. You will usually lie down, so make yourself as comfortable as possible.

How will I feel afterwards?

Accepted Answer

Everyone responds differently. You may feel deeply relaxed, lighter, calmer, or clearer, and some people notice the effects of sound therapy continuing after the session. Give yourself a little time afterwards to rest and integrate the experience.

Are gong baths, Reiki, and wellbeing sessions suitable for everyone?

Most people can enjoy sound therapy, gong baths, and Reiki, but they are not suitable for everyone. If you have any health conditions, are pregnant, have particular sensory sensitivities, or are unsure whether a session is suitable for you, please contact me before booking.

What is Reiki?

Accepted Answer

Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy practice that works with universal life force energy. During a 1:1 Reiki session, you remain fully clothed and can either lie down or sit comfortably. Reiki is offered through light, gentle touch with the hands, or with the hands held just above the body, according to your preference. There is no need to talk or do anything other than relax and receive. Reiki can support relaxation, reflection, and a sense of wellbeing.

What private sessions do you offer?

Private 1:1 sessions can combine sound therapy and Reiki, or focus on either one. Reiki is offered 1:1 only. I also offer private sound experiences for couples.

Private 1:1 Reiki and sound therapy sessions, and couples’ sound experiences, take place near Wrexham in north-east Wales. Sessions at other homes or venues may be possible by special arrangement, with additional travel costs likely.

Can I book a private group or celebration?

Yes. Private gong baths and sound therapy experiences can be arranged for small groups, wellbeing days, retreats, and special occasions. These are available by special arrangement and may involve additional travel and venue costs.

Where are sessions held?

Accepted Answer

Public gong baths and group sound therapy sessions are held at selected venues across North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire, and Greater Manchester.

Private 1:1 Reiki and/or sound therapy sessions, and couples’ sound experiences, take place near Wrexham in north-east Wales. Other locations may be possible by special arrangement, with additional travel costs likely.

What are your qualifications and experience?

I am a Gong Practitioner and a Student Trainee with The College of Sound Healing, working towards qualification in March 2027. My training is an important part of my sound therapy practice, alongside my experience as a Reiki Master & Teacher in Usui Shiki Ryoho, trained through the School of Traditional and Natural Healing, and as a Diploma-qualified Wellbeing Coach (DCA). I have also played the flute for most of my life – so sound has been part of my world for a very long time!

Swallow Sound is fully insured, and I hold a current First Aid Plus Level 3 (VTQ) qualification. I undertake ongoing professional development and practise within the scope of my current training and experience.

Please note that my PhD is in Archaeology, not Medicine. My sessions are complementary wellbeing practices and are not medical treatment.

Public gong baths and group sound therapy sessions can be booked online through Eventbrite. Private 1:1 Reiki, sound therapy, and couples’ sound experiences are arranged directly with me. If you’re not sure which experience is right for you, get in touch and we can talk it through.
